[ENG] We spend most of July in Switzerland, and when we travel we like to feel the place also through the books we read. That is why it is not by chance that we have chosen two books for this holiday, the action of which takes place in Switzerland.
1. The Enigma of Room 622, Joël Dicker
Joël Dicker is one of the most awarded young Swiss writers. His new book, The Enigma of Room 622, tells a story about an unsolved murder and also his personal story, fragments of his life, and of the writer's profession. The action takes place in the past and in the present, in reality and in the imagination. The background of the novel is the hometown of Joël- Geneva and the mountains near Verbier. Great feeling to read the book while walking in these same places.
This is my third book by the author and I really like his boyish style, the way he unfolds the story and the twists that surprise them to the last. And perhaps what I like most is that it allows you to get a glimpse into a writer's daily life, his relationship with publishers, and the challenges he faces.
One December night, a murder was committed at the luxurious Palace Hotel in the Swiss Alps. Despite police efforts, the murder was never found. Years later, a writer stays in the same hotel, without suspecting that he will imperceptibly follow in the half-erased tracks of this crime. The writer is Joel Dicker himself, author and hero of his novel, who this time chooses his hometown of Geneva as a setting with its banks, breathtaking views and seeming tranquility. Money, power, love, rivalry, betrayal, jealousy, guilt connect in a sphere of tense relationships the characters, each of which to one degree or another is a mystery to their environment and to the reader.

2. The Sanatorium, Sara Pearse
Sarah Pierce's debut novel is written in the spirit of Agatha Christie and quickly won first place in several book charts. We saw him at the Reese Witherspoon's Book Club and were immediately attracted by the idea of a crime story in the Swiss Alps.
Detective Elin Warner is staying in a luxurious hotel in the Swiss Alps. Almost isolated from the world, it offers solitude and silence. But behind the sophisticated style lies a past shrouded in mystery. The building was once a sanatorium, about which there are frightening rumors and has long been uninhabited. Despite not wanting to be there, Elin is invited to her brother's wedding and cannot leave. Suddenly the future bride disappears. Panic grips the guests. No one can leave anymore. Elin harnesses all her skills to find her brother's fiancée. And no one still knows that another woman is missing ... The hotel guests have no idea what a great danger they are in.

3. Glass Houses, Louise Penny
I'm a fan of the stories about Inspector Gamashе from book # 1. With each subsequent novel, the crime story gives way to commonplace and philosophical themes, which go very far with the profound and wise Inspector Gamashе. And the Three Pines becomes a city of symbols - tolerance, honesty, light and kindness.
In the novel № 13 from "Investigations of Inspector Leggings" fatalist stories face difficult decisions. A dark figure appears between the three pines on the square in the idyllic village, which portends a threat. And the story, which begins with her black mask, reaches the innermost corners of the human heart. Because personal conscience can be the most ruthless judge. And this time Arman Gamashе will face trial.
